Before he became known worldwide as Bill Lawrence, German-born guitarist and designer Billy Lorento began his groundbreaking work with Framus in 1953. This collaboration led to several innovative signature instruments through the late 1950s and 1960s — and some of the most distinctively voiced pickups of the era.
These hand-wound Framus/Bill Lawrence pickups were featured on models such as the Framus BL-10 and BL-15, prized today for their clarity, dynamic response, and unmistakable mid-century tone.
Shergold Woodcraft also incorporated this same pickup design in their Rosetti Triumph guitars, making it one of the rare components to bridge both German and British electric guitar history.
For collectors, restorers, or tone enthusiasts, this pickup represents a genuine piece of electric guitar innovation — an early example of Bill Lawrence’s genius long before his legendary designs for Gibson, Fender, and his own brand.

Condition:
These pick ups were purchased from an estate sale which includes items from an old guitar repair shop that specialized in Framus, Vox and Martin guitars. This repairmen worked as authorized warranty center sometime back in the 1960’s. We have previously listed Martin Rowe Dynasonic pickups and several vintage Framus guitars that have since sold from this collection.
Overall Condition:
NOS with only light “handling marks” due to age / storage. Pole pieces and cover are in nice shape with only minor surface marks. Pickup has been tested and is fully functional. These are unused pick ups and guaranteed to be in NOS conditions. We have about 20 sets available. Mounting plate and hardware are included and ready to install.
