Epiphone Emperor (1980s) – Made in Korea – Natural

A Stunning Vintage Archtop with Classic Korean Craftsmanship

Up for sale is a beautiful 1980s Epiphone Emperor in a gorgeous Natural finish. Produced during the highly regarded era of Korean manufacturing, these instruments are celebrated for their exceptional build quality and are widely considered some of the best values in the vintage archtop market.

This particular model features the classic tortoise shell pickguard, which perfectly complements the aged blonde aesthetic of the body. It is a sophisticated, resonant instrument that captures the spirit of the great jazz boxes of the mid-century.

Condition & Player Notes:

  • Overall Condition: Used, in great condition. The natural finish has aged beautifully over the last 40+ years.

  • Neck: There are a few small dents on the back of the neck. These are minor and do not hinder the smooth feel or playability of the instrument.

  • Electronics & Hardware: In perfect working condition. The pickups show some slight, authentic corrosion on the covers, providing a great vintage patina.

  • Headstock Detail: Please note that there is an engraved plaque on the back of the headstock that was added later by a previous owner. Please see the photos for a close-up of this detail.

Key Features:

  • Body: Full-depth hollow body with a Natural finish and a striking tortoise shell pickguard.

  • Craftsmanship: Made in Korea (1980s), known for tight tolerances and high-end feel.

  • Aesthetics: Multi-ply binding, "Tree of Life" headstock inlay, and pearl/abalone block fretboard inlays.

  • Tone: Delivers a warm, woody acoustic resonance with plenty of clarity and sustain through the dual humbuckers.

Whether you're looking for a dedicated jazz machine or a versatile hollow body for your collection, this Korean-made Emperor offers professional performance and vintage character in one package.
