This vintage Gibson EB-0, has stood the test of time! Built in 1965, this vintage electric bass guitar has charisma oozing out of every pore. Built with a short scale (30") neck and one big ole' humbucking neck pickup, this bass brings the THUMP like nothing else! Big, round lows are this bass's forte, even with the tone control at 10 this bass sounds full, deep, and HEAVENLY. Not great for aggressive, bright tones, but perfect for RnB, classic rock, jazz, and so much more, plus it's great at 'faking' the tone of an upright bass!
Condition:
This 1965 Gibson EB-0 is in Excellent condition. The bass has small nicks, dings, and dents in the finish throughout the neck and body consistent with light use. Light pick scratching is present all around the pickup and pickguard. The back of the neck has a section of finish that is more worn and feels more textured to the touch (see photos) behind the 12th fret. This can be felt when playing, but does not hold up the player or negatively effect the instruments function.
Neck and headstock are healthy, no breaks or signs of previous headstock repairs. Wood is chipped next to A string tuning machine on the side, does not effect structural integrity. Frets are in amazing shape with only the lightest flattening near the nut under the D and G strings - miraculously clean for an instrument of this age.
This guitar has its original bridge string mute removed, leaving behind the mounting screw holes just above the bridge. The original string mute is included with the bass, and is very clean and intact, only the two mounting screws are missing. Trivial to re-install if desired, would simply require replacement screws.
The instrument presents as all original. Pickups and hardware all look authentic and have appropriate wear relative to the rest of the instrument. Original wiring present behind backplate, CTS pot codes date to the 29th week of 1965.
The original chipboard case is included and is in excellent condition. Handle is healthy, internal red shag padding is clean and healthy, no funny smells, latches all work great.
