This previously owned Mesa Boogie Mark II B Simul-Class Combo is in Very Good condition. The cabinet covering and grille cloth show signs of wear consistent with normal use for its age (40+ yr old amp). Amplifier, speaker, and fan all appear to be original and are in good working order. The hardware mounting the amp chassis to the cabinet have rusted cosmetically, but still turn / function, and the screw heads are not stripped. The previous owner wrote 'Darling Machine' in marker above the Mesa logo on the control panel, is largely faded but is still legible. Includes the original foot switch.

Mesa Boogie Mark II‑B Simul‑Class Combo (Serial #16424)

Elevate your tone with this clean, powerful beast—an original Mesa Boogie Mark II‑B Simul‑Class Combo, serial number 16424, in classic black with chrome corners. This amp is in excellent condition, showing only light signs of use, and delivers vintage build quality and tonal versatility that boutique amp lovers chase.

🔥 Why You’ll Love It
Mesa’s Mark II‑B marked a turning point in the brand’s evolution—this is the first combo to feature channel switching, a tube-buffered effects loop, and Mesa’s patented Simul‑Class output section. That means you get combos of power and musicality: two power tubes biased into pure Class A for creamy midrange and compression, plus two in Class AB for full-throttle headroom—stacked together for max flexibility (up to ~60 W RMS) but with the option to drop into Class A mode (~15 W) for punchy, energized tone.

🎸 Key Features
• Dual channels with full mode switching and Gain Boost
• Simul‑Class power section (blend Class A & AB): ~60 W max power
• Buffered effects loop (first of its kind)
• 1×12″ combo format, original Mesa speaker (likely JBL or similar)
• No onboard graphic EQ—cleaner, more open tone

🌟 Tone & Use Cases
This amp shreds yet stays articulate: thick and smooth in all positions. The Simul‑Class circuit locks in tight lows and even saturation while preserving clarity. In Class A mode, it sings at low volume with dynamic compression—perfect for studio work, classic rock leads, or songwriting at home. Crank it full power and you’ve got punchy cleans or soaring, harmonic-rich gain stacks that rival boutique heads.

🤘 Famous Users & Legacy
Mesa/Boogie’s early Mark amps built the brand’s reputation. Though the iconic Mark IIC+ is better known (used by Metallica’s Hetfield & Hammett, Steve Lukather), these Mark II‑B Simul‑Class amps are no less legendary. Artists like Carlos Santana, Larry Carlton, and Eric Johnson began with Mark I and II models, helping cement Mesa’s catalog as a go-to for expressive lead tone and tight rhythm drive.

⚖️ Compared to Fender of the Era
While Fender’s classic Princeton Reverb or Deluxe Reverb from the early ’80s stream clean, fast response and pristine echo/tremolo, this Mesa combo offers:
• More gain stages and drive options
• Robust low-end and midrange weight
• Channel switching and buffered loop
• Beefier tone without sacrificing clarity
